Interior design is about how we interact and experience spaces in which we live, work and play. Whether it's designing a unique commercial space, the layout for your dream home, or a home renovation complete with beautiful furnishings, we offer a full array of services to meet your needs. Our clients turn to us for everything from architectural drawings and space planning to finish selections and furnishings. Each project is approached with the end-user at the forefront. And we think the best designs are born through a collaborative process — one that combines our expertise with your individual style and personality.
OUR AESTHETIC
Of Origin was founded on the idea of truth to materials. Whenever possible, we focus on raw, organic pieces that point to where they came from. Maybe it's a live-edge custom wood table, elements in concrete, worn leather, wool, or hot-rolled steel, or that perfect velvet chair you’ll sink into at the end of every day.
To us, design is all about the details. It's vintage elements that tell a story, rooms that honor a building’s architecture, and modern hand-crafted furnishings that make a space truly one-of-a-kind.
The Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban, burning wood’s surface to render it a deep black color while also preserving it, intrigues us. We love the idea of Wabi-Sabi living — creating not just a “space," but a space that invites moments. We gravitate toward clean modern lines and timeless pieces, striking a balance between form and function. And while we work with a range of budgets, we believe in buying the best you can afford, because it lasts.

JUSTIN ORTON
Owner / Principal Designer NCIDQ, ASID
A fine arts degree in Interior Design from Watkins College of Art, Design and Film, combined with a background in construction and furniture design, have informed Justin's years of experience transforming residential and commercial spaces.
His work has ranged from multi-million dollar large-scale projects around the country, to residential and local retail/hospitality. He approaches his designs with a creative edge rooted in his prior work as a musician, his unconventional portfolio of painting and sculpture, and his study of both historic and modern design techniques.
Justin is a registered Interior Designer in the state of Tennessee.
KIERSTIN CASELLA
Design Director
With over 10 years in the design field, Kierstin is experienced in all facets of creating a successful project — from thoughtful selections of finishes and furnishings, to procurement and project management.
Merging her artistic eye with a strong focus on details, she ensures that projects reflect the needs and budget of each client, while keeping things organized throughout the process.
OUR Studio & Design Gallery
Of Origin is based on the second floor of the historic Houston Station building in Nashville's Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, a district built by working artists, makers, and independent studios. It's one of the most creative corners of the city, full of the same raw materials and industrial character that shape so much of our design work. We couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
Our studio is where every project starts. It's the space where we sketch first ideas, source materials, and design the custom homes and furnishings we bring to life through our select network of builders and fabricators. It's also where we meet with clients throughout a project, from that first conversation through final selections.
We're also opening our doors to the public through Of Origin Design Studios and Gallery, a retail space right here in the neighborhood featuring art, decor, and bespoke furnishings. We're open to shop Thursday and Friday afternoons, or by appointment.
